GUNDERMAN HOUSE

The concept was to create a sustainable weekend cabin retreat by the river. The proposal consisted of two structures, one being a double story pavilion with living areas and bedroom spaces and a single story pavilion for use as guest quarters.

The living space consists of an open plan kitchen, dining and living space on ground level with a mezzanine level above. This space addresses the main view west over the river via a two story picture window protected by sun screening louvres. This space also address and connects to the north facing courtyard which becomes the main outdoor living space, particularly in the warmer months. This space utilizes local sandstone, paved with compressed crushed stone.

The structure was designed using fire-proof, compressed fibre cement sheeting and toughed glass curtain walls.
