LAING AND SIMMONS PYRMONT
This office fit-out in inner-city Pyrmont continues the theme of transparency that was developed as the original concept for the corporate identity of the company’s main Potts Point office. This project is a shorter-term pop-up and as such was driven by low-cost materials.
The new shopfront is situated on the bottom floor of an existing timber warehouse located on the edge of Pyrmont Bay, with water views. It’s a simple open-plan office with reception, meeting area and workstations.
All elements are simple insertions to the existing space. The reception desk is a long, linear element and constructed from blue shade cloth stretched over a timber frame and trimmed with steel. A meeting area is located behind the desk, again this is created from shade cloth stretched over a timber frame. All joinery elements such as workstations, storage and work tops are constructed from black form ply. The floor is given a graphic touch with the use of multi-coloured carpet tiles.
Materials are all pre-finished to save time and cost on finishing trades.
